The 2024 NFL Draft will take place in Detroit over three days, April 25-27.
With an eye toward any info that would help Pennsylvania sports betting, we decided to see which teams have gotten the most out of first-round picks in the past 10 years, particularly the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles.
Utilizing Pro-Football-Reference.com, PennStakes.com utilized the approximate value (AV) statistic to combine the total AV of the career of each NFL team’s first-round from the 2014 to 2023 NFL Draft. The teams were then ranked on the average approximate value per pick. Here is where both Pennsylvania teams, along with the rest of the league, stack up:

Steelers Fare Well but Not Eagles
The Pittsburgh Steelers just missed out on the top 10, coming in at No 11 with a total approximate value of 258 (28.7 average AV per pick) with a total of nine first-round draft selections from 2014-2023.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles finished 30th of 32 teams coming in at just shy of 200 with a 188 total approx. value (18.8 average approx. value per pick) with a total of 10 first-round draft selections.

Pennsylvania sports betting apps have the Eagles and Steelers in different positions than this list.
The Eagles are tied for seventh with the Dallas Cowboys to win the Super Bowl at BetMGM Pennsylvania. The Eagles are +700 to win the NFC and +130 to win the NFC East, behind Dallas (+110).
The Steelers are tied for 20th with the Tampa Bay Bucs at +6600 to win the Super Bowl. They are +3600 to win the AFC and last of four in the AFC North at +1100.
Topping our first-round pick was the Los Angeles Rams at 285 (71.3 average) with only four-first round picks (the lowest in the league). The Dallas Cowboys finished second at 372 (behind only the Baltimore Ravens' 428) with nine first-round picks for an average of 41.3 per pick, 30 less than the Rams).
