Key Contributors Toward Eagles Super Bowl Odds

The Eagles won Super Bowl LIX, and their star-studded roster is a big reason why.

Jalen Hurts led the way at quarterback, making plays with both his arm and legs all season. Saquon Barkley, in his first year with the team, put together a historic season with over 2,000 rushing yards. He set the tone in the NFC Championship Game against Washington, breaking off a 60-yard touchdown run on his first carry.

A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith have been go-to targets in the passing game, keeping the offense balanced and explosive. On the other side of the ball, Haason Reddick has been a game-wrecker, racking up sacks and making a strong case for Defensive Player of the Year.

With this kind of firepower on both sides of the ball, it’s no surprise the Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs for another Super Bowl ring and have a good chance in 2025 to claim another Lombardi Trophy.

Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl 60 Outlook and Predictions

The Eagles defeated the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 and are poised to repeat as Super Bowl champions, thanks to Saquon Barkley on offense and an all-around high-flying defense. Currently, oddsmakers' predictions for the Eagles are favorable.

Philadelphia must commit to letting Barkley, who has the best odds to win Offensive Player of the Year at +500, do what he does best while Jalen Hurts supports his efforts with mistake-free football. The Eagles also must find a way to keep their defense together with nine defensive players entering free agency.

Eagles Super Bowl History

The Philadelphia Eagles were founded in 1933 as a replacement for the defunct Frankford Yellow Jackets. Throughout their 91-year history, they've amassed five league championships, two of which were during the Super Bowl Era. They won the NFL Championship in 1948, 1949, and 1960 before the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. Their first Super Bowl victory was in 2017-18 when they defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII. The Eagles added their second Super Bowl victory when they defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX.

Philadelphia's other Super Bowl Appearances came in 1980-81 when Dick Vermeil and the Eagles lost to the Oakland Raiders 27-10 in Super Bowl XV, in 2004-05 when Andy Reid and the Eagles lost to the New England Patriots 24-21 in Super Bowl XXXIX and in 2022-23 when Nick Sirianni and the Eagles fell to Andy Reid and the Chiefs 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII.

Have the Philadelphia Eagles Ever Won the Super Bowl?

The Philadelphia Eagles have won the Super Bowl twice throughout their team history. Head Coach Doug Pederson & backup quarterback-turned-Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII. Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts recently led the Eagles to a 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

How Many Super Bowls Have the Philadelphia Eagles Won?

The Philadelphia Eagles have won two Super Bowls in their history. Their first win was in Super Bowl LII, when they defeated Tom Brady and the Patriots 41-33 in 2017. Then, they defeated Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs 40-22 in 2025.

Which Years Did the Philadelphia Eagles Go to the Super Bowl?

The Philadelphia Eagles have gone to the Super Bowl five times throughout their 90-year history.

  • The 1st was in 1980-81, Super Bowl XV, when they lost 27-10 to the Oakland Raiders.
  • The 2nd was in 2004-05, Super Bowl XXXIX, when they lost to the New England Patriots 24-21.
  • The 3rd was in 2017-18, Super Bowl LII, when they won their first Super Bowl 41-33 over the New England Patriots.
  • The 4th was in 2022-23, Super Bowl LVII, when they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-35.
  • The 5th was in 2024/25, Super Bowl LIX, when they defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22.

The Eagles' first appearance was with Ron Jaworski at QB in Super Bowl XV against the Oakland Raiders. Thanks to Head Coach Dick Vermeil turning around the Eagles, it was their first League Championship since 1960, before the Super Bowl Era. The Eagles lost outright despite being -3 favorites.

The 2nd appearance was a loss to Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and the New England Patriots 24-21. Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb threw 3 TD passes but matched it with 3 INTs as well.

Their 3rd appearance will forever be remembered by Eagles fans as they finally got the job done, getting revenge against the New England Patriots with a 41-33 shootout victory. Backup QB Nick Foles out-dueled arguably the greatest QB of all time in Tom Brady. The famous "Philly Special" came out of this game when HC Doug Pederson called a trick play with 34 seconds left in the first half that resulted in Foles catching a TD pass from TE Trey Burton. The Eagles won and beat the spread outright despite being +4.5 underdogs. Foles went on to win Super Bowl MVP thanks to his 373 passing yards, 3 passing TDs, and a receiving TD.

The Eagles made it back to the Super Bowl to face off against their former head coach, Andy Reid, and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs won a high-scoring affair 38-35.  The Eagles lost outright despite closing as a -1 favorite.

The Eagles earned their second ring when they again battled Reid and the Chiefs. This time, the Eagles prevailed, routing the Chiefs 40-22. The Eagles dominated the game thanks to a great performance by Jalen Hurts, who won Super Bowl LIX MVP after passing for 221 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 11 times for 72 yards and one score. The Eagles prevailed despite opening as a 1.5 underdog.
