On the heels of an incredible college run in State College, Penn State All-American linebacker Abdul Carter is ready to take his talents to the pros, with the 2024 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year being projected as a potential top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
With the Super Bowl over, our attention can shift towards the upcoming draft. At PennStakes.com, we developed odds projecting what NFL team will draft Penn State’s Abdul Carter.
Team | Odds | Percent Change |
Tennessee Titans | -200 | 66.7% |
Cleveland Browns | +550 | 15.4% |
Jacksonville Jaguars | +850 | 10.5% |
The Field | +1250 | 7.4% |

Carter’s junior year stats for the Nittany Lions were off the charts, with the third year linebacker out of Philadelphia racking up 68 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and 12 sacks this season, earning All-American honors for his exploits on the defensive side of the ball for head coach James Franklin and company.
Currently, oddsmakers from DraftKings Sportsbook Pennsylvania have Carter as their No. 2 favorite to go No. 1 overall in the draft, at +225, ranking behind Miami QB Cameron Ward (-120) and ahead of Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders (+400), with the Tennessee Titans holding the top pick in this year’s event.
For now, we’re going with Carter to be the Titans’ pick at No. 1, with -200 odds of the Penn State star linebacker going to the AFC South franchise, while the Cleveland Browns (+550) and Jacksonville Jaguars (+850) are the only other NFL teams that made our board for the Nittany Lions legend.
In the latest round of PFF.com mock drafts, Carter is projected to go No. 1 to the Titans, while 2024 Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter of CU goes No. 2 overall to the Browns and Sanders goes to the New York Giants with the third pick, though much is left to be decided ahead of the made-for-TV spectacle.
Until proven wrong, we’re going with the team that holds the top pick in the draft to land the superstar linebacker, as Carter is our go-to choice for the Titans at the top of the draft board when the draft begins in Green Bay on April 24.
