With the official first day of Spring landing on Tuesday, March 19, many Pennsylvanians already have been considering plans for their next weekend destination or even their summer vacation.

PennStakes.com took a break from covering Pennsylvania sports betting to see which airlines might be popular in the state. Utilizing Google Trends, we analyzed the most popular airlines of Pennsylvania residents by looking at the search results of each airline over the last 90 days (December 2023 to March 2024). Here are the choices of Pennsylvania:

No Shortage of Airports, Airlines in PA

The Keystone State has eight primary commercial airports in operation: Lehigh Valley International Airport (Allentown), Erie International Airport, Harrisburg International Airport, Arnold Palmer Regional Airport (Latrobe), Philadelphia International Airport, Pittsburgh International Airport, State College Regional Airport and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport.

American Airlines, the nation’s largest airline, tops the list with an interest score of 89. American operates out of four airports in the state: Harrisburg International Airport, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport and Pittsburgh International, Airport with its main hub out of Philadelphia International Airport. Philadelphia has 113 routes with direct flights from American.

Spirit Airlines (56) comes in a distant second, operating out of three airports: Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe. Delta Air Lines (40) places third with three airports: Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Harrisburg.

Southwest Airlines (24) places fourth and operates out of the state’s two major cities: Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. United Airlines (20) completes the top five and has the most airports (six): Allentown, Erie, Harrisburg, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
