Most Popular Exercise: Pennsylvania Favors the Bench Press
As you get older, you realize the importance of exercise in your daily life. As it turns out, National Exercise Day is Thursday, April 18.
With the date approaching, PennStakes.com paused from Pennsylvania sports betting coverage to see which states were most actively searching for exercise recommendations. We used Google Trends to see which states were searching “best exercises.” Then, we used a list of the most popular gym exercises for men and women in 2024, according to StrengthLog.com, and found which of those exercises are top five most frequently searched in Pennsylvania. The search period was a 24-hour window on April 8. Here are the results:

Initiated in 2020, National Exercise Day was founded by Dr. Jeuse Bernard Saint-Fleur, who wanted to raise awareness about the fact that exercise can save lives. The day is meant to encourage everyone - not only in the U.S., but around the world - to get up and participate in physical activity and exercise.
According to the Mayo Clinic, a good standard for exercise is for an adult to get around 150 minutes of aerobic exercise per week, which comes to around 20 minutes per day, or 30 minutes for five days with two rest days.
