The air’s getting cooler. The leaves are starting to change color, and the scent of pumpkin spice now lingers everywhere. When all of those things begin to happen, you know that Halloween is right around the corner.
To see what Pennsylvania locals are planning to wear for Halloween this year, PennStakes.com used Google Trends to find the top 10 most searched Halloween costumes. The search period was filtered to a 30-day search period within Pennsylvania on October 2, 2024.
Rank | Costume | Search Interest Score |
1 | Witch | 35 |
2 | Princess | 34 |
3 | Beetlejuice | 22 |
4 | Ghost | 21 |
5 | Deadpool | 20 |
6 | Pirate | 18 |
7 | Clown | 17 |
8 | Cheerleader | 16 |
9 | Batman | 15 |
10 | Spider-Man | 14 |
None of the costumes that made the list should surprise anyone. Aside from maybe Beetlejuice, who is coming back from the afterlife thanks to the new movie starring Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, all of these are costumes fairly standard and readily available at your nearby Spirit Halloween store.
But there are still three and a half weeks before the big night, and some other sports-specific costume ideas, especially ones that are Pennsylvania-specific, may emerge.
For instance, maybe people around the Philadelphia area may dress up as their favorite Phillies baseball player should the team continue its postseason run. Caesars Sportsbook PA gives the Phils odds of +450 to win the World Series. That means a $100 bet would return $550, the $100 bet plus $450 in profit. Those odds are the third shortest on the board, behind only the New York Yankees (+250) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (+400).
Or maybe people will decide to dress up like Saquon Barkley. The Philadelphia Eagles bruising running back, who is currently third in the NFL with 435 rushing yards, is the second choice for NFL Offensive Player of the Year at bet365. Barkley’s odds of +450 are behind only Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry’s +300.
