Are There Promos for CFB Betting?

Yes, you will be able to find PA sports betting promos for college football throughout the year. While operators may not have any bonuses directed specifically for CFB, you can generally use any of the welcome offers you see below for any sport. For existing customers, each sportsbook will absolutely offer ongoing promotions to keep you coming back. This will include offers like odds boosts, bet insurance, same game parlay profit boosts, and more. In fact, if you find the app you typically use for betting is lacking bonuses, I'd look for another place to take my business.

Is College Football Betting Legal in Pennsylvania?

Yes, betting on college football (and other college sports) is legal in Pennsylvania. You can bet on in-state schools like Penn State and Pitt as well as other colleges across the country. Prop bets are the only types of wagers that are prohibited when it comes to betting on college sports. This means you can't bet on the number of rushing yards or passing touchdowns a singular player has. Other than that, you can place any other type of college football bet and I'll lay out the most popular options below.

Popular Bet Types for College Football

The following types of college football wagers are the most common you'll see across the majority of operators. Some sportsbooks offer more variety and more niche markets, so you can use that as a tiebreaker if you're comparing different betting sites.

  • Moneyline - The most straightforward bet type there is, a moneyline wager is simply picking the team you think will win.
  • Spread - When you hear people talking about "the spread" for a game, it's a number of points that are either added to or subtracted from a team's total at the end of the game. The team you see with the "-" next to the points is the favorite while the "+" is the underdog. If you see Penn State -10.5, for example, this means PSU would have to win by at least 11 points to cover the spread. On the flip side, seeing Temple +6.5 means as long as the Owls don't lose by more than seven points, they would cover.
  • Total - Totals, commonly called "over/unders", task you with deciding how many points will be scored by both teams. Sportsbooks will provide a line and you pick whether there will be more than (over) or less than (under) that specific amount of points. A total of 56.5, for example, would mean over bettors need at least 57 combined points while under bettors are looking for 56 or fewer.
  • Parlays - Parlays are when you combine two or more bets into a single bet slip. The draw here is that adding multiple bets, referred to as "legs", increase the odds and therefore your potential payout. Parlays are higher risk bets, however, because all of your legs have to hit in order for your bet to cash out. So if you put together a five-leg CFB bet and all but one hits, your entire bet slip is sunk.
  • Futures - Futures bets are exactly what they sound like - wagers on markets that typically won't get resolved until later in the season. The most common college football futures are betting on the championship, Heisman winner, and conference winner.

PA College Football Teams to Bet On

For college football fans in Pennsylvania, there are plenty of teams you can bet on which includes FCS and FBS schools.

  • Penn State Nittany Lions (FBS)
  • Pitt Panthers (FBS)
  • Temple Owls (FCS)
  • Robert Morris Colonials (FCS)
  • Villanova Wildcats (FCS)
  • Penn Quakers (FCS)
  • Duquesne Dukes (FCS)
  • Bucknell Bison (FCS)
  • Lafayette Leopards (FCS)
  • Lehigh Mountain Hawks (FCS)
  • Mercyhurst Lakers (FCS)
  • Saint Francis Red Flash (FCS)

When it comes to FCS schools like RMU, not every sportsbook offers betting lines for those teams. Even the operators that do offer FCS betting markets, you may not find your favorite team every single week.
